Keystage 1 Teachers 2014 - 2015
My name is Larua Tutty and I have been teaching at GEMS Royal Dubai School for 5 years and am looking forward to another year in Year 2.
I am from Ireland and have taught in three countries including: Ireland, England and Dubai. I qualified with an Honours BA in English with minors in Psychology and Philosophy from University College Dublin, Ireland. Inspired by my teaching relations, I decided to try out supply teaching in a few primary schools as an unqualified teacher. I spent two years getting experience in Dublin schools, one of which was in a challenging school in an area with high levels of unemployment and crime. Here I really gained a sense of pride in my work and decided to go to the UK to complete a PGCE in Primary Education.
I trained for my PGCE at St Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill, London. After completing my course I taught Year 4 in a lovely school in Hammersmith. Next I decided to come to Dubai with a friend to work in the UAE where I worked in another British Curriculum School for three years, teaching Year 5.
Outside school I am very interested in sports. I played football in the Dubai Women’s First Division league as captain of a team. In previous years ih ave coached both the boys' and girls' football teams.
I am very excited to be working in Year 2 again because it is an action packed year!
