Head of Physical Education
I am from a small town in South Wales and I graduated from The University of Southampton, in 2009 with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Before moving to Dubai, I taught PE in a large secondary school in the South of England. I joined GEMS Royal Dubai School back in 2012 and have really enjoyed watching the school grow. I am very lucky to have had a variety of roles in the school, I started as a PE Teacher and led our expansive Extra-Curricular Programme before becoming Head of PE. I have been working alongside SLT for a few years now and oversee Professional Development, Teacher Training and the Student Leadership Team. My current role as Senior Leader means I am now involved in even more whole school projects with a particular focus on wellbeing.
I love all sports, however Dance and Netball are my favourite. I coach a variety of sports at RDS and am particularly proud of our thriving Dance programme.
At RDS we strive to ensure all pupils are leading active healthy lifestyles, as well as being as happy as they can be! Our wonderful sports days and swimming galas embrace important values such as determination, team work, and sportsmanship whilst engaging parents, teachers and students through challenging and fun experiences. A definite highlight has to be seeing our students lead and take part in special events across the school such as Assemblies, Sports Day, Swimming Gala Week, International Day, Production, National Day, Flag Day and Happiness week. We have a wonderful team of Student Leaders who are working very hard to be role models and lead the way at RDS!
